Historical Background Del Carmen Concept Hotel
From inn to chic hotel, at Jacobo Gálvez 45
Once owned by the Rulfo family, it is a house that respects the typical old neoclassical style, dating from 1867, it went from being an inn, in its beginnings, to a house, to hold several stores, one very famous of wigs, as well as hosting a bohemian cafe with tango, salsa and jazz nights.
Now, fully restored, with a more modernist European touch, after two years of work due to its deterioration, with a comprehensive and detailed restructuring and renovation of the facade and interiors, it has become a heritage house, home of the Del Carmen Concept Hotel Boutique.
The most important rehabilitation of the property is seen inside, with a central courtyard decorated with a vertical garden, "unique in its kind" in Guadalajara, he highlights, and in each of the nine suites, handcrafted according to the work and life of surrealist and expressionist artists such as Tamayo, Varo, Cuevas, Gerzso, Carrington, Friedeberg, Soriano, Coronel and Vlady.
Overlooking the church and the former Convent del Carmen, the kitchen is also thematically transformed in honor of Frida Kahlo, and uses elements from the Mexican film "Agua para Chocolate", from which it recovers a famous phrase on its weeping wall decorated with onions.
